Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Completes 21 Years, Smriti Irani Shares A Video That Will Take You Back In Time
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, one of the most important shows in TV Czarina Ekta Kapoor's repertoire, completed 21 years on Saturday. To mark the momentous day, actress turned politician Smriti Irani shared a montage on Instagram, adding the show changed of lives of everybody associated. Along with the video, Smriti wrote, "We had made a promise ‘Phir Milenge’, a promise we could not keep... 21 years ago began a journey which changed many a lives - brought joy to some, annoyed a few but impacted all those who saw it, who worked for it. Thank you for the memories (sic)!”

The show produced by EKta Kapoor’s production house, Balaji Telefilms, premiered on July 3, 2020 and aired for eight years -- churning out more than 1800 episodes. Smriti Irani played the role of Tulsi Virani on the show, who protected and stood by her family in all the highs and lows. Smriti Irani then went on to do more shows under the banner of Balaji, before making way to Indian politics. She is currently serving as a Union minister in the Narendra Modi-led Cabinet. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi became a prime time success as it drew attention from the audience with its melodramatic storytelling, aspirational family values and characters.

Show's producer Ekta Kapoor took to Instagram and reposted a fan video, writing, “Many moons Ago. This day. changed my life! This show was, perhaps, the beginning of Ekta's magical spell. Her production house grew leaps and bounds with shows like this, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Kasamh se.
